Okay, so here is a gut-level honest blog for you. If you read this and have an opinion, please share.
When I was a kid, I had sun-bleached blond hair. As I aged, my hair got darker. The darkest it got was when I was about 18, and my hair was a general brown color. Not dark brown, not light brown. Just brown. So I moved to California to go to college, and with the help of the sun and a few chemicals, my hair got lighter and lighter. Then towards my senior year of college, I decided to highlight my hair for real. Um . . . it was on Thanksgiving day, a cousin helped me, something went terribly wrong, and I became a girl with platinum blond hair. No matter how many times I tried to dye it brown, the color wouldn’t stay. I was bleached for life . . . or till my hair grew out, which is never an easy process. So for the past 8 or 9 years, my hair has been some variation of blond or light brown with highlights. Plus, over the past 3 or 4 years, I’ve accumulated a large amount of gray hair. (If you don’t believe me, look at my father . . . I’m following his graying pattern. He went gray very early.) So now at 30 years of age, when I’m sick to death of dying my hair every 6 weeks, I don’t really have a choice but to keep at it.
Therefore, here is the big question – should I just go back to my natural color (whatever that is) and keep life simple? Forget the days of dark roots and trying to be a blond, when I’m not one? Or does blond hair suit me? I know this is not a deep blog, but it’s quite a dilemma. Let me know your thoughts . . .
