Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to travel. I could easily live the life of a wandering gypsy. I’ve dreamt of every place imaginable (well, maybe not North Korea), and I’m constantly bugging my husband to let us move. I rountinely say, “so when we move to France, I’m going to take a cooking class.” Or “When we move to . . . , I’m going to do . . . ” He just agrees with me now. He’s a good man. 😉

So when it came time to begin planning for our trip to England to see Mark’s family and the suggestion came up that maybe we should stop in Paris, I was pleasantly surprised with how easily Mark agreed. All my chatter has paid off!! And when my parents agreed to join us (Hav was in from day 1.), I was almost surprised. My family and Mark’s family have yet to meet. So after 5.5 years of marriage, the Haydens and the Shanks will all be in one room . . . uh, one house and backyard?! There will be over 40 of us getting together between all the siblings and their families!! Yeah!!!! My kids will finally meet all of their cousins and have their entire family all together. And seeing how Mark’s dad turns 80 this year, I think it’s good timing.

And so the trip planning has begun, and oh, how it does my heart good. My sister and I are having a blast. We could sit and talk about Paris, London, Ediburgh, the Lake District, trains, planes, buses all day long. I need to get my French phrasebook out. I need to get my youngest a passport. We need to get Mark’s passport renewed somehow. And we need a house/dog-sitter. We also need two reclining umbrella type strollers that will wear well as they’re going to manuever the trains, planes, buses, stone streets, etc. with two toddlers in them. But I’m going off on a bunny trail . . .

This year is the year of getting a grasp on our purpose in life, the callings/abilities that God has gifted us with to use for His purpose, and the time to start dreaming and running after what He’s got. I’m really hoping/praying that travel becomes more frequent in the next few years as I miss my single years of missions and globetrotting. And someday, I need to write posts and tell my stories of India, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Spain, Wales, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Costa Rica, etc. Someday soon . . .
