[dropcap style=”font-size: 60px; color: #9b9b9b;”] I [/dropcap] taught my final missions class last night, and it was so much fun. I feel so blessed to have done it, and I feel like I got fired up as I dove back into this area that is my heart’s passion. Yet I learned so much more this time. Micah, the introvert, is gaining such a large heart for soul winning. As it should be! As every Christian should be passionate about winning souls for Christ. I’m also learning more and more about how our passions drive us, and I want to be driven to minister love, compassion, and mercy to all that I meet. I’m so challenged and encouraged through the Word of God, through the example of Jesus (the ulimate Missionary), and through the countless stories of men and women who pursued their passion of going to the ends of the earth to reach the lost. God’s doing a new thing in me. And it’s exciting.

So I’ll just post a few quotes from my notes and leave this post at that as these words speak enough for themselves:

God had only one Son and he made that Son a missionary. – David Livingston

The spirit of Christ is the spirit of missions. The nearer we get to Him, the more intensely missionary we become. – Henry Martyn

People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives . . . and when the bubble has burst, they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted. – Nate Saint, missionary martyr

“Not called!” did you say? “Not heard the call,” I think you should say. Put your ear down to the Bible, and hear Him bid you go and pull sinners out of the fire of sin. Put your ear down to the burdened, agonized heart of humanity, and listen to its pitiful wail for help. Go stand by the gates of hell, and hear the damned entreat you to go to their father’s house and bid their brothers and sisters and servants and masters not to come there. Then look Christ in the face — whose mercy you have professed to obey — and tell Him whether you will join heart and soul and body and circumstances in the march to publish His mercy to the world. – William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army

She heard the Lord speak to her heart and say, “My dear, you must see your beloved Jesus in each one of these miserable people. You must love that Jesus, serve that Jesus and look after that Jesus. Never forget His voice when He says, ‘Whenever you did it for the least of My brothers, you did it for me.’” – Mother Teresa
